Similarities between Blackberry Q5 and Q10

Let’s first get it over with features that are same between these two smart phones from RIM.

Both these cell phones run on the latest BlackBerry 10 operating system (OS), which is popularly known by its non-support of BIS. They both have 3.1 inch display with a resolution of 720×720 pixels and both phones are 4G ready AKA LTE.

Those were the most important similarities to note between the BlackBerry Q10 and Q5 features.

Most Important differences between BlackBerry Q5 and BlackBerry Q10

Body (Weight and dimensions)

Q5: Length 120mm, width 66mm, Depth(thickness) 10.8mm and weighs 120g.

Q10: Length 119mm, width 66.8mm, Depth(thickness) 10.35mm and weighs 139g.

The BlackBerry Q10 is slightly longer, wider, thicker and a bit heavier compared to the BlackBerry Q5. If you’re one of those who like bulky phones, then the Q10 will do good for you.

CPU (processor)

Q5: Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ S4 processor with 1.2 GHz dual-core CPUs.

Q10: Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ S4 processor with 1.5 GHz dual-core CPUs.

You may have noticed there’s not much of a difference on the performance side. But the Q10 is slightly faster than it’s competitor. By the way, both phone have 2GB RAM.

Camera

Q5: 5 megapixels rear camera.  1080p video recording.

Q10: 8 megapixels rear camera.  1080p video recording.

The BlackBerry Q10 camera is notably far better than its predecessor, especially if we could go deep into the specs. By the way, both these smart phones spot a 2MP front camera.

Battery

Q5: 2180mAH non-removable battery

Q10: 2100mAH removable battery

Obviously you want a battery which you can remove so you may be able to buy a new one when needed to. Especially with BlackBerry devices’ battery issues.

Storage:

Q5: 8GB internal storage and support microSD up to 32GB.

Q10: 16GB internal storage and support microSD up to 32GB.

Again, the Q10 is your smatter choice here, with lager internal storage for storing video, music, photos etc.

More to note, the Q10 supports more image, audio and video formats compared to the BlackBerry Q5. The Q10 also spots a Micro HDMI for connection to your HDTV or projector.

We may compare anything and everything, but the price is as important!

Well, as you can see, the price difference also show that the BlackBerry Q10 is supposedly a better phone compared to the BlackBerry Q5.

As I said, after reading this article you will know on exactly which phone will suit your budget and / or needs and I hope I have achieved that goal.

If you’re on a tight budget, honestly the BlackBerry Q5 is still a good option. Anyway when people see a Q5 still say, “hey you’ve got a Q10!”.

But if you want a more powerful phone with an exquisite camera and more than enough flash memory (internal storage). Basically, if you want a Smartphone with an upper hand – then the BlackBerry Q10 is your best bet.

What do you think?
