The Huawei P8 lite (2017) is a decent budget handset which comes with a premium design and satisfactory performance. This phone should not be compared with the P8 lite (2015), instead it is a modification and rework of the 2015 model.
The phone is comfortable to hold with a 5.2 inch frame and it looks attractive. The phone has excellent battery life and delivers fast performance from a 8-core processor. Running Android 7, it also has a great camera at 12 MP which is decent for a middle of the range phone. It can record videos at 1080p HD resolution. The phone has a 3000 mAh battery with fast charging fingerprint scanner and dual Sim support.
However while Huawei’s flagship phones make use of metal bodywork, the P8 lite has a plastic frame which runs around the edges of the phone and to some, this may come across as giving the phone a cheap feel. However it mitigates this by having tempered glass on both the front and the back.
One of the highlights of this phone is the IPS display with sharp and bright performance.
A con of this phone is that it can feel rather heavy due to the big battery. The phone is overall good and definitely highly recommended to South Africans who are on a budget.
If you want to get this phone on contract, a good place to visit is Vodacom. They are offering the phone as part of their uChoose Flexi 120 and uChoose More Data 2GB deals. While the uChoose Flexi 120 deal comes without data offerings, it does come with R120 airtime. This is a good deal if you are on a budget and arguably the better one.
The uChoose More Data 2GB deal meanwhile will set you back R699 pm x 24 months and comes with 50 minutes and 2GB data.
